about

what is a wale 🐳

WALE stands for Worth A Look Every day. Our team calculates these Ratings for all traded stocks in the Russell 3000 each day after the close so that we can provide you with timely insights for the upcoming trading day. The Rating is a number between 1 and 5 corresponding to a quintile group, thus a rating of ‘5’ means that a particular measure is in the top 20th percentile of all the stocks in its market capitalization group. A higher rating is assigned to a stock which is numerically oversold, has a small float, has a high short interest to float ratio, and has experienceda volume breakout, all relative to every other stock in its market capitalization group; this is not a recommendation.

While historically stocks with those traits have been subject to market swings, thereby creating trading opportunities, there is no guarantee that a stock with a high rating will move sharply. Vice versa, a low average rating does not mean that a stock will not make a sharp move.

DON’T BUY OR SELL THESE STOCKS but DO investigate them further if they appear interesting. As with all investments, rigorous due diligence is required to increase your probability of success. We provide these stocks as a starting point because we think they are worth a look... every day.

The WALE pod is led by Siebert’s Chief Investment Officer Mark Malek, who has been hunting in these waters for over 35 years.
